Annual Plan Report 2024–25
During the financial year 2024–25, Poonjar Thekkekara Grama Panchayat formulated and implemented various development projects aimed at improving the quality of life of its residents and strengthening local infrastructure. Special emphasis was placed on housing, drinking water, healthcare, agriculture, social welfare, women and child development, and infrastructure development.
1. Housing Development
Priority was given to housing construction and renovation under the Life Mission Scheme. Efforts were intensified to provide safe and secure housing for families without their own homes. It is reported that more than ₹1 crore has been spent in the housing sector since the beginning of the 2024–25 financial year.
2. Drinking Water Sector
As part of the Jal Jeevan Mission, several initiatives were undertaken to improve access to safe drinking water. Development activities were initiated after acquiring land in Poonjar Town Ward for the construction of a major water tank with a storage capacity of 2.5 million litres.
3. Agriculture and Production Sector
Various schemes were implemented to enhance farmers’ income and strengthen the local agricultural economy, including:
- Agricultural wage subsidy
- Distribution of banana seedlings
- Distribution of pepper seedlings
- Distribution of organic fertilizers
- Milk subsidy for dairy farmers
- Livestock and animal husbandry development programmes
These initiatives contributed significantly to strengthening the rural economy.
4. Health Sector
The Panchayat strengthened the functioning of the Family Health Centre, Ayurveda Dispensaries, and Palliative Care services. Continuous efforts were made to ensure quality healthcare services for the local population.
5. Social Welfare
Special welfare programmes were implemented for persons with disabilities, including scholarships, medical camps, and the distribution of assistive devices. Priority was also given to welfare schemes for senior citizens, widows, and other vulnerable groups.
6. Women and Child Development
Programmes such as supplementary nutrition through Anganwadis, improvement of Anganwadi infrastructure, and Community Women Facilitator initiatives were implemented to promote the welfare of women and children.
7. Infrastructure Development
Road construction, road renovation, retaining wall construction, and maintenance of public buildings were carried out across various wards of the Panchayat. Funds were allocated for multiple road development projects to improve transportation facilities and public accessibility.
Conclusion
Through the Annual Plan 2024–25, Poonjar Thekkekara Grama Panchayat achieved notable progress in the sectors of housing, drinking water, agriculture, healthcare, social welfare, and infrastructure development. The projects were implemented with active public participation and a clear development vision aimed at ensuring the comprehensive and sustainable development of the Panchayat.
