Grievance Redressal Mechanisms

Poonjar Thekkekkara Grama Panchayat has various grievance redressal mechanisms in place for receiving complaints relating to services provided to the public and for ensuring their timely resolution.

1. At the Grama Panchayat Level

Complaints may be submitted through the following channels:

  • Directly at the Panchayat Office
  • In writing to the Secretary
  • Through the Complaint Box
  • By e-mail, where available
  • Through an online complaint portal, where available

2. Grama Panchayat Committee

Complaints relating to the administration of the Panchayat or its development activities may be brought to the attention of the Grama Panchayat Committee for consideration and appropriate action.

3. Grama Sabha

Members of the public may raise complaints, suggestions, and issues during Grama Sabha meetings. The suggestions and concerns raised in the Grama Sabha are considered by the Panchayat and necessary action is taken.

4. Standing Committees

Issues falling within the respective areas of responsibility may be brought before the concerned Standing Committee:

  • Finance Standing Committee
  • Development Standing Committee
  • Welfare Standing Committee
  • Health and Education Standing Committee

5. Panchayat Department

If a satisfactory resolution is not received from the Grama Panchayat, the complainant may approach the concerned officers of the Panchayat Department.

6. Local Self-Government Department Grievance Redressal Mechanism

Administrative complaints may also be submitted through the grievance redressal mechanism of the Local Self-Government Department.

7. Complaints under the Right to Information Act

If an applicant does not receive a reply to an application under the Right to Information Act, or if the reply is not satisfactory, the applicant may approach the appropriate appellate authority, including:

  • First Appellate Authority
  • Kerala State Information Commission

8. Ombudsman

Complaints relating to corruption, irregularities, misuse of authority, or other malpractices in Local Self-Government Institutions may be submitted to the:

9. Grievance Resolution Time

  • Acknowledgement of complaint: Immediately
  • Preliminary examination: Within 7 days
  • Complaints that can be resolved directly: Generally within 15–30 days
  • Complaints requiring further investigation: Within the time limit prescribed under the applicable rules

Rights of Citizens

Every complainant has the right to:

  • Receive acknowledgement of the complaint submitted.
  • Enquire about the status of the complaint.
  • Receive a fair and reasonable resolution.
  • Exercise the right of appeal where applicable.
