Annual Plan Review Report
Introduction
As part of the Annual Plan of Poonjar Thekkekara Grama Panchayat, various projects were formulated and implemented with the objective of promoting the overall development of the Panchayat area in the social, economic, infrastructure, health and education sectors. Through people-centred planning and active public participation, efforts were made to improve the quality of life of the rural population and to ensure more efficient delivery of basic services.
Social Welfare Sector
Various welfare initiatives were implemented, including scholarships for persons with disabilities, distribution of cots to senior citizens, palliative care programmes, supplementary nutrition programmes through Anganwadis, and assistance programmes for extremely poor families. Special attention was given to women’s empowerment and the activities of Kudumbashree.
Housing Development
Projects were implemented under the LIFE Housing Scheme, including construction and renovation of houses and financial assistance for the purchase of land for landless and homeless beneficiaries. These initiatives contributed to ensuring housing security and improving the living conditions of eligible families.
Health Sector
Various activities were undertaken for the Family Health Centre, Ayurveda Hospital and Homoeopathic Hospital, including the purchase of medicines, provision of medical equipment, improvement of basic infrastructure and implementation of palliative care activities. Necessary measures were taken to improve the quality of public health services and enhance healthcare facilities for the people.
Education Sector
Various initiatives were implemented in government schools, including breakfast programmes, construction of toilets, improvement of basic infrastructure and facilities for smart classrooms. These projects were aimed at providing children with a better and more conducive learning environment.
Drinking Water and Sanitation
Various activities were undertaken, including renovation and improvement of drinking water schemes in different wards, implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission activities, renovation of wells, development of waste management systems, improvement of Material Collection Facilities (MCFs), and distribution of bio-composting bins. Special emphasis was given to environmental protection and creating a clean and healthy Panchayat.
Infrastructure Development
Various infrastructure projects were implemented, including road concreting, road renovation, construction of retaining walls, construction of culverts, development of pedestrian pathways and installation of street lights. These initiatives contributed to improving transportation facilities and the convenience and safety of the public.
Women and Child Development
Activities such as renovation of Anganwadis, improvement of basic infrastructure, nutrition programmes and strengthening of Jagratha Samithis were implemented. Priority was given to ensuring the welfare, protection and development of women and children.
