Health and Education Standing Committee

The Health and Education Standing Committee is an important Standing Committee of the Grama Panchayat that provides leadership and oversight in matters relating to public health, sanitation, education, and social welfare.

Major Responsibilities

Health Sector

• Supervise public health activities.
• Coordinate measures for the prevention of communicable diseases.
• Implement programmes related to sanitation, waste management, and drinking water safety.
• Review the functioning of health institutions and make recommendations for improvement.
• Organize health awareness programmes.

Education Sector

• Support the development activities of pre-primary, primary, and other educational institutions in the Panchayat.
• Make recommendations for improving basic infrastructure in schools.

• Implement programmes that support students' academic progress and welfare.
• Promote literacy activities and continuing education programmes.

Social Welfare

• Coordinate welfare activities for children, women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.

Committee Structure

• A member elected from among the Grama Panchayat members serves as the Chairperson of the Committee.
• Other members are included in the Committee as prescribed by law.
